This weekend we made a trip to Texarkana. This was Tate's first really long car ride, and he did 1 million times better than either of us expected. We were stuck in traffic on the way out of town (a wreck on HWY 6), and Tate had been in the car 1 hour before we ever got out of the College Station. He was already crying and Chris and I both knew we were in for a REALLY LONG TRIP. Chris had a sinus headache, Cayla was blaring a Sesame Street Grover movie in the back seat, Tate is crying, I'm reaching back to hand him formula bottle (he throws it), cheerios (he throws them), juice bottle (he drinks it for a second, then throws it), we are all ready to go back home. We got past the traffic, Cayla was told to turn her her movie down, Tate was given his blanket and he fell asleep. He slept the entire first half of the trip. We changed his diaper midway, and then I sat in the back with him and fed him cheerios and played patty cake and peekaboo for the rest of the trip. The slep 90% of the ride home. It was amazing! Cayla found the entire stay to be one big vacation. She made piggies with Nana, got to build-a-bear (with cheerleader clothes and shoes) that she named "Zenzy", went fishing (and caught a couple of fish), rode in the paddle boat, rode on the ranger with Papa Gene, picked flowers, and was basically treated like a princess all weekend. Nana bought all of her favorite foods (including California rolls), so she ate only the things she LOVED all weekend.
