Defiance

He throws his banana at Suzanne. (the boy has quite an arm) She asks him to pick it up. He takes a few steps toward her but the just gives her a blank stare. I tell him to throw it in the trash. He generally loves throwing things in the trash; it's one of his favorite pass times. With all of us looking at him, he's decided he's definitely NOT going to throw it in the trash. Chris uses a little louder more stern voice and tells him to throw it away. Tate puts on his "mad face". We hold his arm to lead him closer to the banana, and he throws himself on the ground. We can see that he's eying the banana. Chris tells him again. Tate starts this pathetic sob. We all stand and watch for a while, then we leave him alone. After we've all lost interest he gets up and throws the banana in the trash. Why all of the drama?

Later on that night he was a very sweet little boy. This Huggies box is his new favorite toy. He better enjoy it while he can, because he'll probably outgrow it by next week. (and Chris will probably throw it away before then)
